Deportivo Binacional Secures Return to Peru's Liga 1 for 2027 Season
Deportivo Binacional has confirmed its return to Peru's top-tier football league, Liga 1, for the 2027 season. The Juliaca-based club received official resolution from the Peruvian Football League (LFPP) following a Constitutional Court decision that found the national federation violated the club's due process rights.
Deportivo Binacional has secured its place in Peru’s top-flight football league for the 2027 season, following a decisive legal victory against the country's governing bodies. The Juliaca-based club confirmed it received Resolution No. 016-2026-LFPP from the Peruvian Football League (LFPP), officially granting the institution the right to compete in the Liga 1 tournament.
The readmission stems directly from Sentence No. 114/2026 issued by Peru’s Constitutional Court, which ruled that the Peruvian Football Federation (FPF) had violated Binacional’s right to due process within the sports justice system. The court’s determination mandated the club's incorporation into the Primera División for the upcoming campaign.
In its official statement, the club detailed the administrative steps taken to finalize its return. "We have been notified with Resolution No. 016-2026-LFPP, through which the Liga de Fútbol Profesional Peruana (LFPP) has granted the club the right to participate in the Torneo Liga 1-2027," Binacional stated.
Beyond the immediate sporting consequence, the club signaled a shift toward institutional cooperation. Describing itself as "El Poderoso del Sur" (The Powerful One of the South), Binacional expressed its intention to move past previous administrative and judicial disputes. The statement reiterated the club's "absolute predisposition to collaborate and work jointly with the FPF and the LFPP."
The organization emphasized a commitment to supporting the broader development of Peruvian football, citing goals of transparency and institutional strengthening. "We maintain the firm commitment to join efforts in favor of the development, transparency, and strengthening of Peruvian football," the club added.
Deportivo Binacional also used the announcement to acknowledge its supporters, thanking fans for their backing throughout the lengthy legal process that led to this outcome. The return marks the end of a period defined by significant administrative conflict, allowing the team to re-enter the highest level of domestic competition after being excluded from previous cycles due to the unresolved disputes.
The club is now positioned to prepare for its 2027 debut in Liga 1, having resolved the legal barriers that previously prevented its participation.
